This course aims to present and discuss about the
structure of scientific texts, aimed at the dissemination of experimental
results in the form of abstracts and original articles. The focus of the course
will be on written communication and not on scientific methodology or design of
experiments: 1. Data visualization: How to present science data (best options
for tables and/or figures)? 2. Structure vs. substance, form vs.
content: is there a dilemma? 3. Storytelling: How to transform a data set into
a narrative (the question of the flow of the text)? Throughout the course, the
importance of clarity in the writing of scientific texts will be emphasized.
The course will be offered primarily to lecturers and post-docs from the Food Science and Technology Graduate
Program, in the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, with which UFRJ has a formal cooperation in the scope of solidarity actions.
